The first round of the Danish Nationals where held at the brand new track in Toelloese, app. 50Km from Copenhagen. The venue was hosted by the local club MMRC, and the old club NMRC from Naestved – who controlled the race.

The track and facilities are among the nicest indoor tracks I have ever seen. Very nice work!

High grip carpet, but though a little bumpy some places, especially at the end of the main straight – and that causes some problems. The track layout could need a little more flow too.

Due to the high grip I had to change the set-up on my car quite a bit on Saturdays practice. I was satisfied with the car, and made some good and stable lap times. I could prepare the tyres for the raceday, and then go to bed.

First round of the qualifying was very good for me. The car was even better on the new tyres, and I made a new track record with 26 laps on 5,13 – Actually I made a mistake in the last corner at the last lap, I lost 3 sec. on that. – But my lap times were 0,2 sec faster then everyone else.
Second and third round I made no improvements.

The finals should be a battle between Joern Birkebaek, Losi – and me. Joern could make good lap times, and did improve every heat during the day.
In the first final Joern was close to me in the beginning, but after some mistakes I had quite a big gap. I lapped Joern on second place after 2 minutes, but after 3 minutes I hit another car, who was 2 laps behind me, and suddenly my car was very hard to drive. Only rear wheel drive was available, with a loose diff! I struggled and kept the car on the track, but at the very last lap, Joern passed me and took the first place with just 1 second.

I wanted to make some adjustments to the car before the next final, but I didn’t want to take any chances, so I used exactly the same setup for the next round. Made a good start with Joern right behind me, but again after some laps he made a mistake, and I could drive home on cruise control to take the victory. – The car was understeering, and the lap times were the same as the rest of the guys.

In the last final everything was open between Joern and me. I was a little nervous, but kept calm and made a nice and clean start. Once again Joern was right behind me, this time a little longer, but slowly I made a gap, and pulled away. Once again I put on the Xray Cruise Control, and took home the victory, and securing the overall win. 40 good points to my account.

Final results:
1. Soeren Boy Holst Xray T1FK

2. Joern Birkebaek Losi
3. Ken Flydal Tamiya
